Rumours about Carlos Sainz's future have appeared with Audi and Alpine being the two teams mentioned, or is he staying at Ferrari?
Carlos Sainz's current Ferrari contract expires at the end of the 2024 season which has led to rumours about the Spaniards future and the soon entering Audi being one of the teams Sainz is linked with.
According to autoaction.com.au , Carlos Sainz has already signed a pre-contract agreement with Audi to join the Sauber team in 2025 who Audi will supply engines to. Sainz would join Audi once his current Ferrari contract expires with him also mentioning several times to the media he doesn't like entering the last year on his contract.
"I do prefer starting a season already knowing where I'm going to be the following year" he exclusively told autoaction.com.au . It is also known that Carlos Sainz Sr has strong links with Audi and apparently has inside information regarding their Formula 1 project.
Carlos Sainz has also been rumoured to Alpine according to the Italian website Funoanalistencnica.com as they reported Carlos Sainz Sr is actively considering other teams including Alpine. Furthermore, with former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto rumoured to the vacant Alpine team principal role, Sainz would reunite with Binotto there.
Despite these rumours, there are still many reports suggesting Carlos Sainz will stay at Ferrari beyond his current contract. According to Motorsport.it , a member of the 'Carlos Sainz Camp' has said, "Plan A is Ferrari. Plan B is Ferrari, and plan C is also Ferrari." As well as denying any pre-contract agreement with Audi.
Sainz has openly admitted, "I believe in the Ferrari project" and it is believed to be Carlos' priority to extend with Ferrari beyond his current contract.
