Rumours have started over the last few days regarding Mick Schumacher and his future in F1. The latest rumour is Haas will look to replace Schumacher for 2023.
Mick Schumacher hasn't had the start to the season he would have wanted after a crash in Jeddah which cost the team around £2 million and a crash in Monaco which cost the team around £1.5 million. Thankfully, Schumacher was unharmed in both of these incidents.
Furthermore, Kevin Magnussen scored points in the first race achieving a 5th place finish whereas Schumacher scored his first points 10 rounds after his teammate. Magnussen is currently 11th in the championship with 22 points and Mick Schumacher is 15th with 12 points.
In the last few days, Haas have revealed they are "exploring options" for their second seat for 2023 which would mean Schumacher would be let go as Magnussen has a multi-year contract with the team. I personally predict that Haas expected Schumacher to go the Aston Martin and replace Sebastian Vettel but as we know this will not happen now. It was reported that Vettel recommended Schumacher to Lawrence Stroll and Mike Krack
Mick's uncle, Ralf Schumacher has revealed recently that Mick Schumacher is a candidate for the 2nd Alpine seat after junior driver Oscar Piastri rejected the chance to race for the team in 2023 in dramatic circumstances. Mick Schumacher is out of contract at the end of 2022 and could also go to Alpha Tauri if Gasly or Tsunoda leave/'are let go.
